They say that you should never start something at the beginning of something else. Never start a new diet on a Monday, or quit smoking on the first day of a new month. Don’t wait till January the first for your New Years’ resolutions to kick in.
Apparently things are more likely to last if they start on a day that has no connections to the beginning of anything else. Well, odd as that may sound, I hope it’s true in this case.
Saturday isn’t usually the beginning of anything. I didn’t plan start this when I did, it seemed to lend itself to me.
I finally started a blog, with the hope that the beginning marked an end too. An end to the many excuses I’ve made, the many things that have stopped me from writing, from creating, held me back from many other things.
You may as well know from the outset that I tend to be rather verbose & a little too over-share-honest sometimes. Not rude or shocking, just the kind of honest that makes polite private people shift in their seats a little. (If you are one of those people, don’t stop reading, you may surprise yourself.)
When a blogger whom I admire asked me if I had a blog, I found myself embarrassed to answer with an honest, “No”. I have been following blogs since before they were a thing. People assumed back then that if they knew anyone with a blog, that person was probably me.
It makes complete sense that I should blog. Every time I said, “no, I don’t actually have a blog yet” it seemed incredulous to me that that’s the truth. But until that fateful Saturday, I didn’t. Now I do. It is not quite what I’d expected. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but expectations will do that.
Welcome to my adventure. Thanks for reading – enjoy your Saturday.
Awesome post! You really picked a title that meant something and glad you were able to share that with us.
